Policy Positions
Why District Leader? Natasha is focused on building the capacity of our community institutions – our schools, churches/places of worship, and small businesses. Natasha believes in grassroots organizing and creating strong partnerships to bring critical change to the 42nd Assembly District. Natasha will bring fresh ideas and a new perspective on community development. Natasha will work tirelessly to ensure that constituent concerns are translated into real community solutions.
Jobs/Economy. With the 42nd District facing double-digit unemployment and record foreclosure rates, we need now, more than ever, a representative who understands what we’re up against. Natasha has fought for investments in job training, education and small business expansion in New York State. Natasha will push for comprehensive recovery strategies that promote responsible lending, investment in small businesses, and job training for the new green economy.
Education. As a former Head Start participant, Natasha is a vocal supporter of early childhood education and has eagerly served as a mentor for years. Natasha believes we need statewide education reform to make sure that public schools work for our students and not against them. She also supports school choice initiatives and is committed to making sure that our schools receive the financial assistance and technical support they need.
Immigration. Having served as an immigrant rights advocate to the City of New York, Natasha wrote language access policies to ensure that the City’s limited English-speaking population had access to public benefits when they needed it most.
Affordable Housing. Natasha worked on affordable housing projects in Providence, New Orleans, and San Diego, and will work to protect and expand our neighborhood’s affordable housing options, and provide comprehensive resident services for a higher quality of life in the 42nd District.
Taxes. Natasha worked on debt management and capital planning for cities and states, and currently helps governments identify new revenue enhancements. She will continue to advocate for sensible fiscal policies that strengthens the local and statewide economy.
Transportation. Natasha has specialized in transportation debt management and capital planning for cities and states, and currently is an advocate for fully funding our infrastructure and mass transit needs to protect our environment and provide more secure public transportation, and maintain quality jobs in NYC and State.
Government/Ethics Reform. Natasha strongly advocates for government and ethics reform and has helped bring stronger fiscal accountability to numerous local and state governments.
Reproductive Rights. Natasha supports women’s reproductive freedom, and believes it is important to provide resources and advocate for preventive measures.
LGBT. Natasha supports marriage equality.
